Greetings and salutations!

It's been, once again, far too long since my last post, I know. It's often difficult finding the time to collect, condense, and compose all the information I prefer to put into my posts...but one does what one can.

Quick Updates

There has been quite a bit happening of late. It was not long ago that my close friend Jeremy Perdue's mother, Mel, passed away. I was honored to be asked to serve as a pallbearer ar the service and I know the sincere condolences of many friends go out to Jeremy, Becky, and the entire Perdue family.

My sister, Shannon, and some of her associates are putting on a fashion show next month in Red Deer to show off their considerable design talents! Anyone in the Red Deer area is encouraged to check it out - click the image to the right for details.

In my latest near-death experience, a week or two ago I was crossing the street on my way to work. I noticed a black SUV approaching the crosswalk and assumed the driver would slow down, eventually perhaps even come to a stop (as he was facing a red light). But as I continued across the street, I was HIT by the SUV (only going about 7km/h mind you)! I quickly spun around and slammed my hand down on the hood - but the driver (bluetooth headset equipped) remained in his subconscious fantasyland and and CONTINUED DRIVING, pushing me out into the busy intersection. After repeated pounding on the hood, he finally woke up and, with a horrified look on his face, apologized profusely as I continued on my way - always good times.

In other news, I was recently sent a link to this video....which is perhaps the most disturbing, provacative, documentary on the events of September 11th I have ever seen. It is also the best one. I cannot recommend strongly enough that everyone watch this film! Like the producers, I do not say you should take anything at face value - and there are absolutely references made that are more than questionable - but I think you will find it very surprising.

Taxes & Summer Plans

Yes, it's that time of year - how I despise doing my taxes! In future I may always have someone do them for me. I am the first to admit I am not a numbers guy. Somewhat related to the issue of taxes is the depressing fact that I won't be attending E3 this year - despite coming in under the wire with a last minute application approval. I hope the rest of the LA posse has a good one. At this point, a Germany trip for the World Cup is also seeming unlikely.

My dad is trying to put together a houseboating trip; it's something he's wanted to do for a while and I think it's a great idea. There are also two spring weddings taking place - my cousin Jackie is getting hitched May 20th, preceeded by my friend Dayton's wedding on the 6th - congrats to both the happy couples!

Fictional Dreams

Seascapes waves and sunlight roll away the heavy days;
deep breaths and contented sighs sway on the light breeze;
on the sandy beach in my dreams;
soft earth between my toes and each time my eyes open I think I see sails in the far too distance....

With Hope,
Joseph
